Twelve Shades of Night was written in 12 months, recorded in 12 weeks, mixed in 12 days, and was inspired by the 12 hours of night.
This new album of original compositions, due on November 22, 2010, integrates Stevan's love of Brazilian, Spanish & American music along with bossa nova, rhumba, flamenco, classical and jazz styles. Stevan's new ensemble features his dynamic acoustic trio (guitar, bass and drums) with the rhythmic cadences of Felix de Lola on cajon & palmas, the Latin syncopations of Colin Douglas on drums, and the lush string ensemble of the Musical Art Quintet featuring the brilliant string arranger and bassist Sascha Jacobsen.
Jambossa is the newest release by Stevan Pasero (2009) and is performed by the Stevan Pasero Trio featuring John Anttila on drums, bassists Paul Eastburn, Sascha Jacobsen and Perry Thoorsell, and includes guest percussionist Rene Escovedo. Jambossa is a fusion of jazz, bossa nova, rhumba, flamenco, tango and classical styles and is truly one of a kind. The sound for this recording came from Stevan jamming and gigging over the years with some his closest friends: Christopher Bock, Richard Patterson, John Anttila, Enrique Ruiz de Luzuriaga, Freddy Clarke and Ray Bock, and after years of recording and performing Latin, jazz, Spanish, rock and classical music. According to Stevan, “It's exciting to blend several of my favorite music genres (jazz, bossa nova, flamenco, classical) while playing specific finger style techniques (rasqueado, apoyando, libre, arpeggio). It’s called “mashing,”.
